FAQs

What is the curriculum followed at HIXS,Pune?
Heritage International Xperiential School (HIXS) is a pioneering and innovative international school offering a progressive experiential curriculum designed to equip learners with future-ready skills. Our educational approach prepares students to thrive in a dynamic, evolving world—one that demands adaptability, critical thinking, and compassion.
As an IB Continuum School, we offer all three International Baccalaureate programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). Our curriculum is enriched by a strong emphasis on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), helping students connect their learning to global challenges and act as responsible, principled citizens of the world.
How are assessments conducted for the students?
As with any other component of learning, assessment should be authentic and meaningful for students and, most importantly, the assessment process itself should be a learning experience for everyone who engages with it. We at HIXS Pune, believe that assessment must be developmentally appropriate and designed to allow students to succeed by showing what they have learned and the potential of what they can achieve. Several tools—which include rubrics, teacher and/or parent observations, self and peer evaluations, portfolios and digital diagnostic platforms are used to demonstrate growth and mastery. The focus is on assessment for learning rather than on learning for assessment.
How do learning experiences beyond the classroom - ‘Outbounds’ - enrich student understanding?
We believe that meaningful learning extends far beyond the classroom walls. Experiences such as field trips, outdoor learning, service projects, student-led conferences, and real-world inquiry tasks allow students to connect theory to practice. At HIXS Pune, learning is not confined to the classroom—it is deeply rooted in real-world experience and authentic engagement. Whether it’s a nature walk to Vetal Hill (Vetal Tekdi), Empress Botanical garden, Singhad fort trek , a community impact project, or an inquiry led by student curiosity, we believe these immersive experiences are essential to deep, meaningful learning.
How does HIXS Pune support students transitioning from other curriculums?
At Heritage, we understand that transitioning to a new school can be both exciting and overwhelming for children and families. Our approach is designed to be inclusive, supportive and personalised to ensure each student feels confident and connected. Students who join HIXS Pune are supported through a tailored and personalized approach, a partnership experience allowing for an individualized onboarding experience mapped for each child based on their unique circumstances, strengths and needs. This allows students to settle quickly, and to feel confident in approaching their learning quickly. Regular wellbeing sessions further support our community of learners as they begin to develop unique skills to navigate their journey at HIXS Pune.

How is technology integrated into learning at HIXS Pune?
WAcross HIXS Pune, technology is seen as an excellent medium for children to express and absorb ideas. It provides instant accessibility to information, which is why its presence in our classrooms is so vital. Smart devices, computers, and tablets are an omnipresent element of everyday life. In the younger years, technology is used to build fundamental skills to prepare them for future independent learning, for example interactive games to reinforce math, spelling, phonetic awareness and application, and reading skills or using digital cameras to research different materials, to record observations, and communicate thoughts.

For our older students, technology is seen as a supportive mechanism to transform students into independent thinkers. Students use technology to develop basic life skills. They gain independence by having opportunities to research, find answers and represent their hypothesis in a diverse manner whether that is through presentations created on Microsoft, or using programmes to design a poster or brochure on software like Canva. Technology supports our children across age phases as a form of expression and communication.

We equally expect our students to value the uniqueness in one another, learning to collaborate respectfully and contribute positively to the collective growth of the community.

Inclusion and wellbeing are at the heart for HIXS Pune, and we ensure equity by meeting each learner’s individual needs so they can flourish. We understand that children develop at different rates and that success cannot be defined by a single, standardized measure. Instead, we embrace personalized learning, where each child is challenged at the right level and supported in ways that enable meaningful progress.
How are parents involved in the learning process?
We believe in building strong partnerships with parents and families, working closely together to ensure all of our learners succeed. Their partnership in the learning process in school is therefore vital. Parental involvement is a key element in a child’s engagement in school, as many studies have confirmed. It is our endeavour at HIXS Pune to ensure that we partner with our students’ parents at every opportunity. To this end, they are our true collaborators, volunteers and resources in the learning process. At HIXS Pune, parents take part in :

One of our core education principles at HIXS Pune is that each child is unique and different, and we want our children to live their uniqueness. Students are not required to wear uniforms, allowing them to express their individuality while gradually learning to prioritize comfort in clothing through daily discussions and routines. Our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum fosters respect, acceptance, and an understanding that clothing is a form of self-expression, but not a measure of one’s worth. Through community-led initiatives, students also develop empathy and awareness of privilege, leading them to adopt a thoughtful and modest approach to dressing over time.
